As some of our readers may have heard, TNR has been sold to CanWest, a Canadian-based media company. The sale is terrific news for us and for you, the readers. (And, while this is the sort of thing editors tend to say in public even if it isn't true, in this case, it is.) It would be a bit of an exaggeration to say that Canada has always been a TNR editorial obsession. Nonetheless, our peaceful neighbor to the north has long figured into our pages, often as a target of gentle ridicule. We would like to assure CanWest that we kid because we love.
