This morning, Pamela Paul, the editor of The New York Times Book Review tweeted this:
Bad book news: Word is that B&N Review is ceasing publication and the Daily Beast will no longer review books. Say it isn't so.

The book community responded as it usually does to bad news about the fate of review coverage: with a mix of sadness and resignation. Thankfully, the rumor is at best only partly true. I haven’t heard back from The Daily Beast yet, but a Barnes & Noble spokesperson told me that the company has “no plans at this time to shutter the BN Review.” One possible reason for the alarm was that the company “temporary suspended the weekly marketing emails for the Review during the holiday season.” I’ll update this piece when I know more about the future of The Daily Beast’s book coverage.
