The presidential candidate wants black voters to “Feel the Burn,” too. Although plans have yet to be finalized, Sanders’s black outreach director Marcus Ferrell told BuzzFeed News, “We are going to be touching HBCUs in a way that’s never happened ever in a presidential campaign. It’s going to be very potent and very positive.”

The tour aims to capitalize on the popularity of Killer Mike’s interviews with Sanders in his Atlanta barbershop by bringing the candidate to the voters, rather than the other way around. It’s also a clear tactic to win over minority voters in important states. Two of the schools Sanders plans on visiting are in South Carolina, where the Sanders campaign hopes to gain support.
