Is the BBC in trouble?

BBC

Accepting the Golden Globe for best TV miniseries, a Wolf Hall producer got played off the stage for telling David Cameron and the British government to keep supporting the BBC. “I urge David Cameron and the British monarchy to do everything they can to protect the BBC and ensure its future.”

What’s going on there?

Well, the BBC is facing £550 million in cuts this year in an upcoming showdown with the government. This includes £35 million less for sports coverage, £12 million in cuts for the (already terribly designed) website, £12 million from the TV budget, and £5 million from BBC News. BBC Four and the News Channel may both close. Radio 5 Live might also be under threat.
