Donald Trump is maybe getting a little too into this whole “I could kill somebody and still win” thing.

Trump made headlines over a month ago when he said, “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose any voters.” On Tuesday, referring to the loyalty of his supporters, Trump said, “I mean I had a rating—68 percent would not leave under any circumstance. I think that means murder, I think it means anything, OK?”

Trump seems to be developing something of a Patrick Bateman complex. On Monday, he seemed no longer content with letting his supporters do violence on his behalf, and told a crowd that he wanted to “punch” a protester. But as my colleague Jeet Heer noted after the Fifth Avenue comment, Trump very well might be right, his supporters love him that much.

In other more charming Donald Trump news, he made a cameo on MSNBC earlier on Tuesday evening and was all charm, telling Rachel Maddow that he “loved her charts,” which are the “most beautiful charts.”
