Even Padma Lakshmi is sick of Salman Rushdie talking about his fatwa.

The Top Chef judge reveals in her new memoir that Rushdie’s aggrieved response to her first Newsweek cover was: “The only time Newsweek put me on their cover was when someone was trying to put a bullet in my head.” He also allegedly needed consoling every time he was passed over for a Nobel Prize in Literature, and was irritated that Lakshmi wouldn’t have sex with him after she was diagnosed with endometriosis. “How convenient,” he is said to have sniffed. No word yet from Rushdie on Lakshmi’s book, which comes out tomorrow in the U.S., but he is not known for restraint when it comes flame wars with his exes.
