Former New York Yankees outfielders love Donald Trump.

Last night, Trump acted like former Yankees right fielder Paul O’Neill was the reincarnation of Babe Ruth, as he crowed over his endorsement at a Florida rally. Today, he earned the endorsement of former Yankee center fielder Johnny Damon.

Speaking to the New York Daily News, Damon, who spent a season on The Apprentice, said, “I want [Trump] for president. I’m a Trump fan ever since I met him seven or eight years ago. Everything he does, he does first-class—his hotels, his businesses, his golf courses. The issues all the other politicians failed to discuss, [Trump] is bringing us up to speed.” The Daily News also asked Damon about Trump’s controversial stance on immigration, to which he said, “Everyone is calling him a racist. He just wants people to come into this country legally and fill out the proper paperwork. That’s how I’m viewing it.” (That is a very generous interpretation.)

Before his stint with the Yankees, who made him cut off his famous Geico caveman-esque hair, Damon spent time with the Oakland A’s, Kansas City Royals, and Boston Red Sox, with whom he won a World Series in 2004. Damon wrote a memoir about that season and not being very smart called Idiot

Donald Trump loves the poorly educated.
