This morning the president-elect of the United States tweeted:
Has anyone looked at the really poor numbers of @VanityFair Magazine. Way down, big trouble, dead! Graydon Carter, no talent, will be out!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 15, 2016
Why would Trump, who is about to become the most powerful man in the world, tweet this? Here are a few possible explanations:
- He was angry at an extremely funny restaurant review in which Vanity Fair suggested Trump Grill “could be the worst restaurant in America.”
- He has a longstanding grudge against Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter, who coined the immortal phrase “short-fingered vulgarian” to describe Trump. Trump has, in fact, been tweeting about Carter and Vanity Fair for years, predicting the imminent demise of both.
- Trump is trying to distract the public from the many controversies he’s embroiled in, ranging from questions about Russian interference in the election to his many controversial selections for high-level posts.
Whatever the reason, the tweet is yet another sign that President Trump will be the same old Trump we’ve always known.
