What better way for the sorely degraded Justice Department to spend the rest of the Bush administration than defending against lawsuits alleging illegal political bias in its hiring practice?
At least this way the department's political appointees will have less time to sit around dreaming up ways to undermine Americans' civil liberties and, more broadly, to destroy the integrity of and public confidence in the DOJ itself.
