Windfarms are a very good business. So good, in fact, that--according to yesterday's Financial Times--they have been captured all over southern Italy by the mafia. The currency between the mafiosi and government officials is bribery. One particular reason the business is so attractive to the criminal strata is that wind power in the Italian south is the most expensive in Europe.
