Correction: Ted Cruz still doesn’t have any friends in the Senate.

Yesterday, the right wing dream journal National Review published a piece suggesting that Ted Cruz could report five endorsements from Senate colleagues this week.

National Review has since corrected its report, but in a somewhat confusing manner. Here’s a correction posted on the site’s Corner blog

An earlier post stated that Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign was set to unveil a series of endorsements from Cruz’s fellow senators. The report was erroneous. As of this writing, the campaign has no pending Senate endorsements to announce.

And here’s the correction on the piece itself

EDITOR’s NOTE: This post has been updated. An earlier version stated that the Cruz campaign was set to unveil four or more endorsements from Cruz’s fellow senators. The number of senators who will endorse Cruz is not known.

The updated piece then goes on to suggest that “at least one” Senate colleague will endorse Cruz “as early as this week,” which means Mike Lee might endorse Cruz.

We expressed some surprise at the initial report—after all, everyone hates Ted Cruz, but no one hates Ted Cruz like the men and women of the United States Senate. Nevertheless, we dutifully repeated it, leading to the false impression that some people might actually like Ted Cruz. We regret the error.
