Canada made its southern neighbor look pretty bad this week, announcing it would accept 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of February. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau all but rolled out a welcome mat for a group of refugees at Toronto’s main airport, telling them, “You’re safe at home now.”
But the Christian humanitarian aid group World Vision really rubs it in with this video of some ridiculously sweet Canadian children welcoming their new Syrian friends.
Meanwhile, in the United States, the push to stop the resettlement of Syrian refugees has contributed to a troubling climate of fear for Muslims in states like Texas, as the New Republic’s Elizabeth Bruenig reports. Way to go, America.
