The story of a boy, a girl, and a universe ... Star Wars?!?

What was it like to see Star Wars for the first time? That’s almost impossible to imagine now since the franchise is such an embedded part of our culture. But thanks to an earlier trailer, it’s possible to look at the original Star Wars with fresh eyes—and ears. The trailer was obviously spliced together before the rousing John Williams score was added, so familiar scenes have a very different feel. Although at times heavy-handed, Williams’s score is an inextricable part of the Star Wars experience, so that without it the original movie loses its tempo and rhythm, and feels much less like a sweeping epic. Even the cheesy narrator of the trailer seems confused by exactly what it is he’s selling. Instead of “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away,” we’re told “somewhere in space, this may all be happening right now.”
