After the president unveiled his executive action on gun control Tuesday, many of the GOP candidates took their displeasure—and fundraising—to Twitter.

Another lawless, unconstitutional overreach. The 2nd Amendment is an individual right. Mr. President, how about enforcing the laws we have?

Today Obama proved again why he’s 1 of most liberal & divisive presidents in history. I’ll repeal his exec orders & protect 2nd Amend.

Any executive order President Obama signs that regulates firearms transactions will merely regulate the freedom of law abiding citizens.

Appearing on Fox News, Marco Rubio said the actions would tear down one of the GOP’s favorite amendments. “Barack Obama is obsessed with undermining the second amendment,” Rubio said. “He’s been doing it forever.” Rubio also insisted that the executive order would do nothing to prevent gun violence because criminals don’t follow the law.
During his address, Obama acknowledged that sweeping gun control changes would not come during his presidency. If the Republican field has anything to say about it, changes won’t come during the next presidency, either.
