Mathieu Willcocks

Mathieu Willcocks is a freelance photographer based in Scotland’s Hebrides. Born in France, he grew up in Hong Kong. and graduated from the London College of Communication. 

Mathieu worked extensively in South East Asia, and has been published in the New York Times, the International Herald Tribune, CNN, Al Jazerra, and the Sunday Times.

During the summer of 2016  he was the embedded photographer onboard the Topaz Responder, one of the MOAS’ (Migrant Offshore Aid Station) rescue ships in the Mediterranean for six months, during which time he had exclusive access to the migrant’s perilous journey to Europe from Libya, for which he was awarded a World Press Photo in 2017.
