The Staples-Office Depot merger has been blocked for the sake of corporate customers.

You know what they say: buying one overpriced ink cartridge is a tragedy, but buying one million overpriced ink cartridges is a statistic. For this reason, the FTC voted today to prevent office supply retail giants Staples and Office Depot from merging into one Staples-Depot mega-chain. 

The block comes on the heels of several years of merger-related struggles between the FTC and Office Max, Office Depot, and Staples, suggesting that the American people may not be able to rest easy yet. But for now, the American corporate customer is safe.
